After testing samples of the lesions and Dede's blood, "Dr Anthony Gaspari" from the University of Maryland concluded that his illness was caused by Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). A very common infection that usually causes small warts growing in patients.But Dede faced a problem because it has a rare genetic fault, which inhibit the immune system, and means his body can not grow warts.Dede Koswara, also known as the tree man is looking “human” again after following a nine-month treatment for his rare disease and to remove the “wood” parts in his body.As a result the virus to "hijack the cellular machinery his skin cells" and ordered to produce a large number of substances that cause growth like a tree known as the "horn skin" on his hands and feet.
Dr Gaspari is involved in the case through a Discovery Channel documentary believes Dede's condition can be cleaned using most of the daily dose of synthetic vitamin A.It has been proven to stop the growth of warts in severe cases of HPV.
