Remunerasi polri 2011 - National Police personnel are to receive extra remuneration starting in January 2011 as encouragement to work better without expecting unofficial tips from the public, a spokesman said.
"The extra remuneration Remunerasi polriis part of the government`s effort to motivate the police to work optimally without expecting unofficial rewards from the public," National Police spokesman Inspector General Iskandar Hasan said here on Monday.
The extra pay would be given to every member of the force based on an 18-level scale where officers at the highest level would receive Rp21,205,000 and those at the lowest level Rp533,000 per month.
He said the decision to grant the extra pay was made in the hope that police personnel would improve their service to the people. "We hope that after receiving the extra pay, no police officer will ever again take money illegally from the people," Iskandar said about Remunerasi polri.
Earlier, the National Police Chief candidate, now chief of the institution, Commissioner General Timur Pradopo promised he would improve the quality of police personnel if he was appointed as the force`s top leader.
Timur said so during his fit-and-proper test by members of the House of Representatives Commission III.
"Reinforcement of the police`s vision, improvement of service to society and development of IT knowledge among police personnel are some of my plans that I will realize if I take over the institution`s leadership," Timur said.
He also promised to create a performance-based human resources management system and improve the force`s internal supervisory mechanism.
"I will apply a working contract system to all police personnel. In that way, those who violate the contract will be given firm sanction. I believe revitalization of the National Police is achievable," he added.
During the meeting with members of Commission III , Timur also presented 10 main priorities if he is appointed as chief of the National Police. They included eradicating corruption, hoodlums, illegal logging and human trafficking.
Timur also promised to uncover big cases involving senior officials or big-time entrepreneurs, improve the quality of anti-terror police personnel and develop an integrated information system for the public.( ANTARA)
